Default Am I crazy?

I owned the first model year Street Bob and had to sell it to help a kid out financially (what dad's do). Always think about that bike.

I found a really clean '14 with 4K miles.

I'm considering trading my 2014 Road King.

I am a young 62 year old guy that does enjoy Cruise Control and Heated Grips, but let's face it, Road Kings are everywhere!

If they offer me a respectful trade allowance (12k-ish), I may do it!

Am I crazy?

At 62 and doing what a dad needs to do in your life there comes a time to do what dad wants to do. If it is time for a change then go for it. Your 2014 RK should bring good money in current market. yes you will miss the cruise control. You can put heated grips on just about anything.

Crazy? Not at all...I'm sure you appreciate how lithe the Street Bob is compared to an FLH. My wife and I both have heated grips on our Dyna's (Heat Demon) and If I need cruise control I'm on the wrong road...

I would recommend a test ride first, thats a sweet looking street bob but that tiny seat, loud pipes and appears lowered a good bit is going to ride so much worse than your road king. Looks comfortable for about 50 miles.

Here's my thoughts, take them for what it's worth. Current sales climate on bikes is pretty solid. If you were willing to put in the work and take your time, you could sell your FLHR on your own and take that money and buy an FXDLS. They look similar to the FXDB with the bobbed fender and you could put on a solo seat if you wanted to. Besides the benefit of a larger motor and dual disc brakes, the FXDLS have cruise control because they are throttle by wire. As far as heated grips go, you can add those to any bike. I prefer heated gloves over heated grips because they aren't stuck on the bike but to each their own on that one.

I'm 66 That would be more of a change than I would want.

Try to take it for a good test ride.
Not a 10 min one either.
Try to get at least a 30min test ride or longer if possible.
I have convinced a sales person I'm serious enough to allow a extended test ride more than once.

Totally agree regarding the seat, I've already got my eye on a replacement. As you can tell from the pic of my RK, I'm a LePera fan boy. Great quality and comfort!

The pipes are the same V&H Short Shots I had on my '06 SB. Love the look. The same for the Progressive shocks (lowers 1"). Ride quality isn't compromised IMO.

All that I'll have done is to put forward controls on it immediately. That's a two beer job.

Crazy? Not at all! I went back to a Dyna from a touring bike two years ago...I have a '14 Street Bob, and I have those exact shocks in the back. Be aware that they ride rough...looks great lowered in the back, feels like doo doo. Like you said that seat will not do you any favors either. I went with a LaPera kickflip on mine and its great! Still has the sleek look but with all the support I need. I finally got a replacement set 12.5" progressive's....will be throwing them on over the winter when I get a chance!
