I have an 02 Supeglide. Bored to 98 CI, Heads ported dont know to what level just that they flowed 270@28in, S&S 509 Cams, Cobra 2 into 1, and super E. Im currently running a .31 intermediate and a .76 main. Plugs are black as can be. Bike runs great but does give me an occasional sputter. Some have said main is to big, some have said to small, some have said just right. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I guess im probably best off taking it to have carb dyno tuned.
Check your mixture screw settings. Also check the accel pump shot for the occasional sputter. Make sure the squirter shoots straight back, not on an angle. Even though your jetting is what S&S recommends doesn't mean it the right choice for YOUR BIKE. Ya got sooted up plugs generally means too rich. I would drop down jet sizes on both circuits to the next 2 jet sizes available. Gonna be Trial and Error to get it dialed in. Try 1 size lower then the 2 sizes lower. Once those plugs run clean, ya got it spot on. Ya don't mention what ignition system yer running. It might even be a weak spark.
To make a proper judgement you will have to Post up a pic of the plugs.. I'm not gonna advise based on assumptions...
Plus I will need to know target compression as well as CCP, head gasket thickness, and how far in the hole are the pistons? Yes it does all make a difference..
One more thing, Why the 509 cams with a 98' build and did you have it dyno tuned????????

If you installed the carb without adjustments the accelerator pump is likely too high.. Turn it off and if you start to get a hesitation when opening the throttle, back the screw out 1/2 turn till it goes away. You can try a 29 int jet. Also make sure that the enricher arm is allowing the enricher plunger to seat all the way.
