Talking Cruise control install on a fxdb 2016?

FXDB 2016 Dyna still has a drive by wire system as far as I know. However I'd love to install a Cruise control electronically like the Dyna low rider S.

Anyone ever done it? I suppose you have to change to electronic throttle, anyone done this?

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure that's an option from HD,just the switches and a flash.

The FXDB is cable operated and the FXDLS is throttle by wire. The Low Rider has a different BCM, ECM, main wiring harness, handlebar controls and throttle body. I've researched this with the possibility of putting cruise control on my 2017 Fat Bob. It's possible but would be pricey.

Yeah exactly, this is how I thought... So you didn't do it at the end?

Damn I should have gotten a low rider S to begin with 🤣. Too late I guess.

I still kinda want to go through with this. Do you remember what the cost was, more or less?

I didn't do it. I may be wrong but I think it was going to be around $2600 for all the parts plus paying for programming. The ECM comes blank.

I just ordered this Motorcycle cruise control (mycruisemate.com) based on another members recommendation. Probably install it today and I am super psyched! I had given up on cruise for my '17 FXDB. Everything either looked like *** or looked stupid. This thing is totally hidden!

I tried the Barefoot ******* snap on cruise assist. I didn't care for it. If I'm going to have cruise control I want true cruise control that adjust speed according to load. I may still try to source the parts this winter to do the swap. I think the handlebar controls from a Rushmore era Road King will work if I can't find Low Rider S parts used. 103 High Output Fat Boy parts from 2016-17 will probably work also. I had one of those and it was set up for cruise. All I had to do was install left hand control module. If memory serves me I only had to replace bottom part of left hand control with the cruise button. Only time will tell.

Well the install was easy, getting the lever dialed n took longer, lol. Check out the pics, can you see it? top is off, bottom is on. Haven't ridden yet but garage test is 100%. I adjusted it to move a little less than a 1/4 turn to engage and it flicks off completly.

You don't even need to do that. I got a small aluminum arm that attaches to the star screw under the throttle switch housing, and it works exactly like the one you paid extra for here. After a while of using either, though, you'll need to adjust them, because it wears a slight groove into the throttle sleeve as it's being used. Both use pressure on the throttle sleeve to "hold" it in place, but the tension is kinda weak for both, so you have to keep adjusting it tighter and tighter. Eventually, it may even wear through the throttle sleeve, causing you to have to replace it, but I have no idea how long that would take, and I've been using mine for years.
Here's one that's been 3D printed, and CHEAP (https://www.etsy.com/listing/1318521...?gpla=1&gao=1&)!! IT just fits over the star bolt, making it easier to turn one handed.
This is the one I got: https://www.ebay.com/itm/33445529581...Cclp%3A2047675
It uses a screw to attach to the star bolt, and I think it moves a bit further than these others above, between the throttle cables.
