Default 07 Dyna Super glide Trouble starting

The last few months i have noticed that when i go to start the bike after a short or long ride I have to give her some gas when starting. If the bike has been sitting over night or for a few hours there is no problem. Currently have a Vance and Hines 2-1, Arlen ness big sucker intake, and a tuner. Not sure if I just need to readjust the carb possibly or maybe just do a whole retune. What do you all think? The bike has around 17,000 miles

I thought it was normal to have to give a carbureted bike/car a little gas while starting it while it's already warmed up. I did some work on this guys 2 bikes a few weeks back. Both older carbureted Japanese cruisers. After he came back from a test ride he went to restart it and it cranked and cranked but didn't start. He looked at me like I did something wrong lol...I said are you giving it a little gas while starting it? He looked at me like I asked him for a kidney. He's late 20s and grew up in the fuel injected generation so it was a unheard of concept to him. A little twist while cranking and it fired right up.

Did you convert it to a carburetor? It came with fuel injection.

My 07 dyna had a very similar issue. I recently resealed the intake, replaced the injectors and IAC. It's running a lot better and hasn't had the hot start ussue since.

Not to hijack this thread, but I had to comment.

While I believe this is probably correct in most cases, I believe it is based on the tune.

I have a 2001 FXSTS w/CV40 carb. I bought it used 4 years ago, with 9.8K miles. I pulled the carb, disassembled it, cleaned it, added CV40 performance needle, pulled the EPA cap off the mixture screw, and tuned it for my stage I modes.

When warm and without any throttle, that bike fires right up after barely touching the starter button. It seems like it takes half an engine revolution (but I know better) and it's purring like a tiger...

As mentioned, you don't have a carb unless you converted it to a carb from the OEM fuel Injection.

A fuel injected Twin Cam should run on Stage I mods, without a new tune, albeit run a bit lean.... but a new tune for your mods would certainly make it run better...

It could be just the tune, or as also mentioned you could have some other minor issue that needs addressing after a diagnostic evaluation... It could be a leaky intake manifold, dirty IAC valve, or a few other easy fixes.

What tuner do you have...? Flash tuner? Piggyback tuner? Does it have a Stage I tune already?

Not sure why i thought my bike was carbed! Its defiantly a regular 96ic Harley with stage 1 (Vance and Hines 2-1 short, big sucker air intake, Vance and Hines fuel pack)

Did you already retune it per the FuelPack instructions for your current mods....??

If so, I would start looking for a mechanical cause for your issues.

If not, give it the proper tune for your mods and see what happens....

I never owned a V&H tuner, and know very little about them, I'm a PowerVision guy.... But if you have tune questions, I have read that V&H gives pretty good customer service for their tuners..

Keep us posted on what happens...

How long has the bike been tuned this way and when did the problem start?
