I still have the "great" memory of being on the side of I-25 between Cheyenne and Denver, at night, in the rain, trying to deal with my buddy's broken stock shifter rod on his Superglide. I changed mine to the heim joint variety the day after I got back to Albuquerque.

The puzzling thing is that HD uses those Spherical Rod Ends (Heim Joints) on some models...

I could have made mine either way but like the look of the ball joint. I can carry spares in my side bag.

Personally I like the looks of the heim joint more, and IMO the heim joints are far more easy to source and replace. You can find those heims at basically any hardware store.

My 95 Dyna had a heim joint on the front of linkage rod, and left hand thread ball joint in the rear.
The 2019 Tri Glide........two ball joints, both right hand threads.

Got both shifter rods fitted and installed.
Maybe it's just me, but I believe I can tell a small difference in the smoothness/ less clunk.
The upgrade is bound to add 10 ,12 percent more horsepower and torque...................right?😉😁

These will fit the all factory linkages with 5/16-24 Right hand thread. I think they stock left hand threads too.
