Well here's the result. I pulled the main bearing cover/gear set, it was pretty easy with the right tool to remove the main shaft race. Cleaned everything up, drilled, tapped and HeliCoiled the 3 holes, cleaned it again and got it put together last night. Bolts all set to factory minimum 23ftlb with a drop of blue and the HeliCoils were confidence inspiring. This is the first time that all 8 fasteners were able to be torqued. Thanks to everyone that weighed in, I appreciate it.

If it’s not leaking, leave it alone.

One thing I'd do for the first 1000 miles is recheck the torque on the door bolts a couple times.. Always check the exhaust mounting bolts at oil changes.. Good time to hit all critical fasteners.. Don't forget the shifter arm on the tranny..

Most don't check the shift arm on the trans till it's too late...

Honestly, I was changing exhaust again, Yeah, AGAIN..... I put a 2008 Fat Bob exhaust on my Street Bob and when doing so I noticed the bottom stud for the rear mount was a little too easy to tighten and really could not tighten it as much as I wanted. There's only 5/8" thread in the trans for this stud. So, I used Loctite 690 retaining compound and firmly seated the stud and let it sit over night before I continued. I did the same to the top stud. I think it'll be ok..

That is where it all started for me when I put my Thunderheader on. Except that double ended stud did grab and then strip. I did the same with lock tight and it's never been an issue, never leaked either. But it was gnawing at me and that takes us to my first post in this thread. You have no idea how happy I am that it's all fixed up!
