When you installed the stage kit was it put on a dino to set it right, if it was then like the others just run he rpm's up more before shifting. I usually shift around 35-40 into third and so on as to not lug. Do you do much in town riding, maybe take it out on a road trip and just run it hard to clear the injectors or burn the plugs off, they may have a lot of carbon build up from the lug time on them.
I installed the Stage 1 A/C, Fuelpak, and V&H slip-on's. There was no reason to put it on a dyno, seeing as how V&H's claim to fame is that they do all the dyno testing ahead of time, and find the best settings for you to set your Fuelpak to. I gave them my bike's info i.e; year, make, model, engine size, A/C type, the pipes I was putting on, etc. They send me the code for the Fuelpak.
Either wy, I took the bike for a bit of a ride today, and as I was listening to her, I realized that this set-up changed my shift points/powerband. I guess I was just shifting a bit too early. She runs like a dream...I shift into 3rd at a minimum of 35mph, and all is good.
500 miles ain't enough for nothing on a break in. Like everybody said on the new 6 speed you got to wind the gears longer before you shift. This bike needs over 2500 miles on it. after you git more miles on it you don't have to wind it as bad. I had 500 miles on my bike in a couple of days. I think the longer you have yer bike if you do the homework on what you do to it the more you will like it after it breaks in.
after you've had it for a while have yer motor mounts both upper and everything checked. My top was loose making it vibrate from the factory.
Try puttin some like kuykurkyn switch blade pegs on it so you have more area for yer foot to go on.
Harleys ain't know for being a smooth riding bike. Be glad you didn't ride the Pan head models. the vibrated, rattled and made noised all the time. I thought back then they was the best thing made.
