To each his own...that said, personally,I dont like the Softtails...just dont like something about them, especially the models with the 'flipped up' rear fender...love my Street Bob but,if I had it to do over...maybe..just maybe I would go for a Street Glide...never really looked twice at one until recently...maybe its an aquired taste...love the bat wing....:>
I have gotten that reaction twice since buying my lowrider. I simply let them know and move on with the conversation which always begins or ends with "really nice bike man"...
If I studied it right, the Dyna used to be a Sportster with a larger frame and engine. The frame was still not like a larger bike and I believe the forks and tubes were the same as the Sporty til 2005? Then the tubes went to the larger size and the frame was also redone to be stiffer and more capable.
In 2006 the Dyna got the 96 and in 2007 the six speed. When all of the upgrades were done what had already been a great bike was a very serious motorcycle if desired, and those of us desire.
I am a new rider, but I have an 07 Wide Glide. I picked her up Aug 7th, 2007. She is my first Harley and my first bike. I love her.I will say this, I dont really care what anyone says or thinks about my bike. I agree with all the other posters here that say anyone on 2 wheels is fine by me. I agree. I ride my Harley because I love Harley's. I am the one writing the monthley payment check, so until someone else pays my bike bill, they can kiss off. It took me a long time to learn the difference between the Harley models, but I admire ALL Harleys. Old, new, regardless of the shape they are in. Ride what makes you feel good.
BTW, I now have over 2600 miles on her and am enjoying every second.
Always ride in your comfort zone....
Steve
P.S. Mine has the detachable windshield, engine protection bar, leather saddle bags, and medium low sissy bar with luggage rack. Looks BADA$$ and I love it!! Also very functional.
...love my Street Bob but, if I had it to do over...maybe..just maybe I would go for a Street Glide...never really looked twice at one until recently...maybe its an aquired taste...love the bat wing....:>
The Street Glide does have a bit of panache. If I had one, I would get it in all white, with white fringed leather and white sidewall tires, and with pipes that made a low, lowrumble.
Two days ago I receive my new Street Bob and I already love this bike more that my RoadKing custom .
You can really not go wrong with all Dynas - there are all perfect functional Bikes .
At the end of the day I dont give the slightest **** what others believe ...
