Dyna's Misunderstood
If I studied it right, the Dyna used to be a Sportster with a larger frame and engine. The frame was still not like a larger bike and I believe the forks and tubes were the same as the Sporty til 2005? Then the tubes went to the larger size and the frame was also redone to be stiffer and more capable.
In 2006 the Dyna got the 96 and in 2007 the six speed. When all of the upgrades were done what had already been a great bike was a very serious motorcycle if desired, and those of us desire.

Up to and through '05, yes, the FXD, FXDC, and other FXD bikes pretty much shared the same front end (and a few other misc parts)with the XL line, but different frames, trans, motor, etcfor obvious reasons.
I've only gotten the "is that a sportster?" question once, and thankfully, the conversation did end with compliments all around.
I really do like my bike the way it is now. But (there's always a "but") I am considering moving to a touring bike for the both of us. That's why the Street Glide and Road King are attractive to me.

Dyna's Rule
Was at a dealer open house Saturday and there were hundreds of bikes. It seems anyone with a Softail thinks Dynas are Sporters. Does anyone else run into this? I just find their ignorance annoying.
