This thread is goofy. Like said before. I like all bikes. Test drove a Heritage over the weekend. One awesome bike, fast and smooth . Lots of room, etc . This entire thread should be freaking nuked . Like Trotter said, why rag on what you do not own.
How do you know what anybody has owned or rode ! I myself bought4 bikes last year and one this year and have gotten rid oftwo of them.

Uh, cardboard, you think you might want to think about demo riding and renting a little more and maybe buying a few less bikes a year?
All i am saying this thread has turned sour. Like some people are like " if it is not a dyna " , it is junk, etc . My point is.... The softail is a dang good bike. Just like all Harley's. To each their own . Then again. the Dyna is a great bike for sure.
I could care less how many bikes someone had owned. With that being said. I have owned over 50 bikes .
If I hadn't of wanted 4 bikes I wouldn't of bought them.
Seemed like a few folks were stating they didn't have enough leg room on some of the bikes. And some don't like the Wide Glide Fender. I got what I like and the fender don't really bother me. Like the new wide glide.
That's why I'm glad that H-D makes so many different bikes so mabe somebody can find something that fits them and they like.
I didn't buy a bike for a show bike. I got a bike for riding.
Somebody is gonna go off track most of the time anyway. I just got to where I ignore that thread and go on.
Well misterB..... You must have better eyes than I do.
I just went to take a close look at the rear fender on my 96WG, and other than the taillight, it looks exactly like yours[sm=insomnia.gif]!
Cheers... Ben.
That's because it's a 1996 [sm=insomnia.gif] ( the older bob tail fenders had more flip ) Try Looking at a 2006 or 2007 There almost Flat at the end and about 4" narrower..and the brake light isnt even close....

I have an 05' Wide Glide and when I was shopping for a new taillight, the same lights alsofit theSoftail Custom. So for a while, there wasn't a difference. But Iagree with the softail guy and think the new 08' rear fender is ugly. The flip is what made the bobtail fender unique. Now it's more like a tube sawed in half...
Well I can Chime in becuase I had a Street Bob and Traded it for a 2007 FXSTC and I KNOW the differences between the 2. To say that a Dyna is more comfortable than a Softail is in the eyes of the beholder. The Dyna is much more rigid and shakes /vibrates. For pure comfort and driveability the Softail is by far superior. There IS NO VIBRATION in the footpegs or the handlebars.Justa Smooth , Vibration free, sweet comfortable ride.If you say your Dyna doesnt make your fingers tingle and your toes numb after 60 miles your kidding yourself. My Bob Vibrated justlike my Sportster did and and longer trips my fingers and toes would be numb. The Bob is an awesome bike but cant hold a Candle to the Softail in terms on being comfortable. All this crap about the " twisties " is overrated. Not manyof you sling your Dyna around any " twisties " . I bet 90% of you ride on Urban roads and Highways like the rest of us. And as Far as that goes the Softail handles those conditions just as well as a Dyna, its the rider that makes the difference NOT THE BIKE. They Dynas are beautiful bikes just like the softails are , theres a bike for everyone....thats why HD sells so many different models.

The 08 soft tail fenders still have the same flip... The 06-08 wide glides dont...My Dyna has a 06 Wide Gliderear fender and my 07 Soft tail is stock look at the differance in the flip at the end. (best ican come up with in the pic's)
If you say your Dyna doesnt make your fingers tingle and your toes numb after 60 miles your kidding yourself.
Then I must be kidding myself.....My fingers do not tingle nor does my toes. My Wideglide is a hell of a lot smoother at speeds then my Intruder that has a double pin crank. Now at idle it vibrates, but I liked that. I wish I could get the old Harley sound out of it, safely. But I guess I need to pick up an old Shovel for that.
As for riding in the twisties.. I bought cruisers and sold my Crotch rockets got tired of draggin knees. Those will ride circles around a Softie and a Dyna in the turns.
Now to pay off the Wide Glide in 10 more months and to get me aNight train to go with it .....
