Default Transporting my harley ?

I am moving cross country and I can't afford it to be shipped. That would be 700$.

If I rent a trailor from uhaul it will be about the same.

I dont know if this will work or not but what if I put the bike on its side and put it inside my dodge durango.

Have never done this before. I hope I dont get flammed to much. LOL

Thanks, Dirico1266

you should look into www.UShip.com. They match up individuals with trucks/trailers with people in need to move...stuff. IMHO,transportingyour scooter on it's side= bad idea.

You can buy a trailer for less than 700 bucks:

I'd ride it cross country before I'd carry it that far on its side. I can't even picture a bike stuffed in a Durango like that. I understand your situation but that would be my last option. Before I'd put 700 into shipping it or renting a trailer, I'd spend the extra and go ahead and get me a bike trailer that I could use again. Maybe drwest's option will work out for you.

man get on craigs list! you will find a trailer CHEAP! i got mine for 200 and then tossed on some new wood, lights, wheel bearings, and wheel chucks, another 100 bucks... 300 for a basicly BRAND NEW trailer! please do not put your bike on its side it hurts thinking about it! not to mention all the fluids would have to be drained and then replaced. and the packing it would take. just the fluids would run around 100 bucks and then 50 for packing... that is the costs of a cheap trailer right there! I rented a 25 ft trailer to go to FL from chicago for a week to haul 6 bikes for $325... if you hunt you will find a good deal!

Hauling it on it's side would be a big no-no. Try to find yourself a inexpensive trailer.

I know you said money was tight but I would buy a trailer before I laid my bike on its side for transportation. Heck I may even push it before I took it across country like that. Just my opinion.

If I were a cop just walking past you in a parking lot and saw your bike on it's side stuffed into the back of your SUV, I believe I'd give you a bit of hassle about it. On the other hand, if I had pulled you over on the road and was having a bad day anyway ....

Why not have the OL drive the dodge and you ride the bike there?
