The blocks allow pretty much any lift to accomadate the uneven frame of the Dyna. First time I used the red Sears lift it seemed to take forever to get it leveled out.
Was pretty sure I was lifting it by the tranny but upon closer inspection I was. You can cut up a couple of pieces of 2x4 but the lift block adapters are so much easier to use and enable you to set the bike very steady on the jack. Best 22 bucks I have spent all year. Gives you a little more clearance between the frame and the lift as well.
As far as the oil change and checking oil level goes, the newer model bikes are designed to be changed and checked on the jiffy stands. I believe this only applies to 06 and up.

Thanks Jay. I've heard that the engine oil is designed to be checked and changed on the kickstand. But, I thought I also read on here once that at least one if not both of the other two "holes" are supposed to be drained and filled with the bike upright. Not true?
The primary is designed to be drained on the kickstand. Think about the location of the drain bolt and you'll see why. I do believe the primary should be filled/checked at an upright position (this is how I filled mine) with the fluid just below the derby cover opening.
As far as the trans goes, I'm not 100% sure but I think it can be drained on the kickstand. Manual does not actually state either way though. It does metion that level is to be checked on the stand As long as all the fluid is drained completely you should only have to pour the required 32 oz of fluid in the cases. Haven't had any issues yet.
2007fxdc, make sure when you use the straps, you attach them to the part that moves up, actually lifts the bike, not the base of the jack itself. The straps get really tight and the jack will not go up very far. I had a friend who did....
HowI change my oils is like this. Get my bike up to op temp. Rest her on the jiffy stand. Remove all three plugs and o rings. soak in gas.Remove filter, letDrain. I let it sit like that forabout 5 or so minutes. Then I stand the bike level, and rest her back on the jiffy stand for another 5 or so minutes. Shove a rag at the oil filter inlet/outlet and kick the engine over for a quick SUPER QUICK second. Just enough to get the geroter to send out the rest of the oil in the bike. Replace filter, primary gasket, o-rings if neccessary. blow off all 3 plugs w/ compressed air. make damn sure they are clean, and slowly thread 'em in and torque 'em down. (or is it up since your under the scoot?) 1 full qt in pimary and tranny. 2 1/2 qts in motor. Take her back up to op temp, check all fluid levels. Add or take away as needed.
I change engine oil every 500 miles regardless. Unless I'm on a long trip. But never more that a thousand. Filter tranny and primaryevery 1000 miles. Air filter 1500 miles. yea Im a frikin nut. But my scoot and power train are MINT and will stay that way. Nothin but honey in my motor.

I don't know exactly what the differences are but the red lift is certainly sufficient for my dyna, my ATV, and my son's dirtbike. It was very easy to assemble and it has a 1500 lb capacity which is way more than I need. It came with 2 tie-down straps as well. I even saw someone say on another post that the red lift is easier to deal with than the yellow one. Last time I checked, all they had was the yellow one and it was either $139 or $159 and it was not on sale at all. I paid $59.99 for the red one. Not even sure what the regular price is. Also picked up a Craftsman 3/8" torque wrench for $39 that I almost paid $75 for the week before.
