I seen a chart somewhere that showed with each size of rim and for what years certain tires that will fit. Like 4.5" rim 140,160,180
5.5 - 6.0 190 200 210
I would just like to know if I can fit a 200 on my 08 Fat Bob. My past bikes (none which were Harleys) the general rule was you could go up 1 or 2 tire sizes (width) on the stock rim.
I went with a SE 180 on my WG; no mods or wide tire kits needed, despite the stealer's insistance that they were. I read here somewhere you can get a 200 on a 5.5 rim, but the axle spacers and drive belt will have to be changed. A forum search might yield some help. Let us know what you find.
You could run a metz190 on the stock wheel, tight fit on bead, but it willnot look/handel right, I know I tried it. Also remember different tire manufacture tire sizes although listed the same sizearenot the same size so be careful when sizing. I think the best you can do with the stock wheel is to run the dunlop 180. If you want to run a 190 0r maybe even a 200 which I have not tried yet but think it could work without a lot ofcosts and moding is to switch to a Nightrain wheel. The pics here are a Nightrain wheel with a metz 190/50 tire.
The dynas with the 4.5" wheel, can support a 180. Any wider might fit, but your pulling the sidewalls way in and its gonna handle funny and a possibility of coming off the wheel in a turn (saw it happen to a sport bike with a tire to big for the rim). The 5" Deuce wheel like i have on my bob might hold a 200 ok, but I would probably go with a 5.5" for that width. JMHO
