I have a compact windshield from Memphis Shades (Shooter) and it does a reasonable job of keeping the wind pressure off my chest and extending the amount of time I can ride on the highway without having to take a break. Two bolts and it's off but I just leave it on...
When it comes down to it, I'd rather deal with the updraft than have the feeling of getting blown off the bike at 90+
90+? Ever think of just slowing it down to an easy 70 or so might help? LOL [8D]
I was only doing 70. It was the 20+ Santa Ana headwind blowing me back. Not to mention the 50 mph sidewind gusts.
After I put the windshield on, I havent noticed as much of a headwind, and the side gusts only lean me over.
On a trip of that length you're gonna encounter some bugs and rain - get a shield. Memphis Shades makes a couple, the Fats and the Slim.I have the slim on my FXDX.
I had the Windvest on my old VRod. Made a big difference in the ability to hold on without hands cramping up. I never took it off once I realized how much I liked it. I got the idea from my buddy who had em on hiscustom rat bikeand Nightrain.
I have the small windvest on my WG and it usually stays on, only two bolts and it's off.
I've got the short, detachable HD shield on my WG. It's huge (wide) and keeps the pressure off my chest but the wind blasts me right in the eyes. Plus, I can't re-locate my turnsignals because the lower shield mounts are in the way. So...I was looking at the windvest - does it keep the pressure off your chest? I like the way they look. Thanks.
