I had to get to mine the other day because I had accidently unplugged it a when putting pulling on some other wires to install my tank lift.

Mine was way back in there, probably about 6 inches. We had to loosen up the main harness under the rear fender and clip a couple of zip ties to loosen things up so we could pull it out enough to access it. Hopefully yours isn't back in there so far.

Can't speak to a wideglide, but if they're similar to the FXD, it's pretty easy to get to through the access panel where the spine of the bike (running under the tank) meets the framehead. It can be a little tricky getting the access panel off without sliding the tank back, but it can be done if you know the right curse words. Pull the grommet where the wire of interest goes into the head to give yourself some room, then either remove the access panel or bend it back enough to get a finger in there. Jiggle the signal wire and you should be able to follow it to the plug then pull it out the access hole. After that it's easy.

Be careful of wires you might be pulling on...

I've always had the tank off when going into the neck. Either way, it's tough actually seeing in there. I made the mistake of possibly pulling too hard once, and unplugged the ignition by accident and could not see where it plugged back in (was actaully opposite where I thought it might have gone).

Anyway, your ignition may not even be where it is on the FXD, but just a fair warning.
My bike was probably only a few weeks old when I started tinkering and exploring, and believe me, my jaw hit the floor when I lost all power, not knowing what I might have screwed up.
