Hi Folks, while not new to HD, this is my first time doing the forum thing after lurking a long while.
Anyhoo, I've got an 05 FXDX, the best handling bike Harley ever made, and was wondering if anybody out there ever worked this problem out.

The bike came with the detachable sissy bar/ cargo rack. I picked up a set of detachable cordura/nylon HD saddlebags off an earlier model FXDX-T. The bags mate up fine with the fender strut mounting bolt locations, but don't work with the detachable sissybar. The shoulder bolts to attach the bags are too short with the detach. bar hardware installed.

If I go a longer bolt, I'm concerned the lower attaching bracket mounted to the saddlebag may not reach the lower read fender docking pin.

I got around it by going back to the non-detachable sissybar arrangement, but would really like to have the ability to switch back & forth between touring style (bags & Bar) and bar-hopping style.

Any suggestions???

There was a rather lengthy thread a couple days or so ago, started by "jackyl" along this line. You might check his posts. HTH.
