Default Info needed on SERT & HQ ProTuner

I have searched the forums and have not found a lot of information on the SERT with a HQ ProTuner. My understanding is that you use the SERT to upload the proper map for your bikes setup to your ECM and the ProTuner auto tunes that map like a Thundermax or Daytona Twin Tec. From my reading I am also led to believe that since you keep the Delphi ECM you keep the ability to adjust timing on the fly by using the knock and MAP sensors unlike the Thundermax or Daytona which can't use these sensors and only use A/F adjustments based on Throttle and RPM.Correct me If Iam wrong in thinking the SERT keeps the use of all the sensors and also adds the ability to auto tune A/F with the HQ ProTunerwhile the Thundermax and Daytona only make adjustments by A/F.

Has anyone out there used a Thundermax or Daytona and the SERT with a ProTuner? Can you provide any details about why you switched and your findings? If you go with a SERT with ProTuner you will not need a dyno correct? Does anyone know if the HQ ProTuner with work with the newer SERT Pro?

Thanks,
Chris

I think the metal has a zippers thundermax tuner and will be getting his all setup soon. He would be the guy to ask. If you have a highly modified engine it will have to be tuned on the dyno no matter what. I'm only familiar with the thundermax unit and am really impressed with it.

I was initially leaning toward the Thundermax until someone mentioned the ProTuner and now I'm not sure. I like the ease of use of the Thundermax, but I like the idea of keeping the Delphi ECM and keeping the use of thesensors added with the ability to adjust by A/F. HQ doesn't say much on their website about the ProTuner and it is fairly new. My Engine isn't modified but I will be adding the stage 1 and some Cobra Dragsters hopefully within the next month since Ihave them bothon order.

Here is a link to some info on the new super tuner.
They are starting to trickle in to some dealers. The dealers that stock it now ordered it a month or so ago when Harley had the Dealers meeting with all the new products.

Thanks for the information, I saw your post during my search for information on the SERT with ProTuner. I just sent kevin from HQ an email with some questions about the ProTuner including its compatability with the new race tuner. Hopefully I will get a responce soon.

Thanks,
Chris

I have been looking into the ProTuner with SERT combo or a Thundermax, but I have not been able to find much information on the ProTuner so I have a few questions. Will I need to get a dyno with the SERT or will I just need to download a map and let the ProTuner adjust the map

YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE A BASE MAP THATS CLOSE FOR YOUR BUILD. THE PROTUNER WILL THEN COMPLETE THE TUNE AND DIAL THE FUEL IN FOR YOU.

or does it just log information

YOUR SERT CAN LOG ALL ENGINE DATA EXCEPT FOR FUEL AND YOU'LL ADJUST FUEL WITH VE TABLES IN THE SERT

With the ProTuner hooked up will the ECM still be able to adjust timing by using the knock and map sensors?

YES...THATS THE BEST PART. ALL KNOCK AND MAP ACTIVITY IS UTILIZEDAND YOU DONT REPLACE THE FACTORY ECM.

Can you explain the differences for me between the ProTuner with SERT and a Thundermax or Daytona setup.

THE PROTUNER WORKS WITH THE SERT AND FACTORY ECM, RETAINING ALL FUNCTIONALITY.

Is the ProTuner compatable with the new Pro Tuner that was just released by Harley?

YES[/blockquote]

Has anyone got a SERT or SERT Pro with a ProTuner? I would like some feedback on the product before I decide to take the plunge since it is an expensive system.

Thanks,
Chris
