Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
I was just wondering if anyone has or has heard of running a softail thunderheader on a dyna, I kind of like the way it's shapped better and have found one for $200 used. Let me know, Thanks!
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
I had one last year, loved that sound. Not on the same opinion were the cops here in italy..
The only trouble was to build a bracket.
I should have a pic somewhere...
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
Not sure if you know this but Thunderheader makes exhaust systems for Dynas now too ........I Have one on my 2007 StreetBob,it has the O2 sensor ports built in, they are cool as hell ( especially in matte black, that way you don't have to buy any heat shields either ) My buddy has one on his '96 FXDL too. Sounds great , looks great, and will give you the most performance hands down.
get a set that fits your bike , they are relatively inexspensive ( about $500 +/_ I've seen 'em on sale for) they will fit and save you money and aggravation in the end.

rmatt,
your not running any heat shields on your thunderheader? im still waiting for mine to get here (darn ups) and at parts direct they told me to order the heat shields as well, they were an extra 170 bux or sumthing so i hope i didnt but something i dont need. i got the dyna black ceramic thunderheader.
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
yeah,
with the black pipes you really don't need them. IMHO they are a waste of money , I know quite a few people with them and no one I know is running heat shields ... I would prolly buy them for the chrome set, just to hide the "blueing" you get at the heads with chrome. I did see one pic of a member who had heat wrapped his black t-headers then put the heat shields over that. it looked pretty cool. ( I think it was 07bobber ..)
P.S. it is effing snowing here AGAIN. sombody's gonna pay.....
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
Freddy,
I like the look of the bike, how hard was it to fashion the support for the pipe and would you happen to have a picture of that? What did ya do with the thunderheader, leave it on and take the harrassment from the cops or replace it? Yeah I know they make the thunderheader for the dyna, but I like the styling of the softy's pipe better. Also I have found a softy for $200, vice the $484 for a new dyna black one. If anyone has a dyna or softy black one they want to sell, drop me a line.
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
I bought this one from eBay. It was advertised for a Dyna and was already heat wrapped. Bolted right on except blocks the oil cap and bracket didn't fit. Had a friend make this bracket by cutting from 1/8" steel with a plasma cutter and bending on a metal brake then painting flat black. Will have to remove it to change the oil. Any tips here would be appreciated.
RE: Any one run a softail thunderheader on their dyna?
i prefer mine b/c it wraps around the front of the engine-just like the way it looks. but i also got it barely used for way less than 550
also if anyone needs heat shields for their dyna pipes i got a set to sell......cheap
