Default Relocating headlight and indicator lights mounts after removing visor.

I'm planning on switching to mini apes on my 05 Low Rider and thought it might be a better looking set-up if I could do away with my headlight visor. Problem is, I'd have to relocate my indicator lights (which are in the visor) and would also have to come-up with another headlight mount since it is top-mounted into the visor.

In case anyone else is interested I received the following info from a company called Headwinds (www.headwinds.com). Looks like it would cost approx. $90 in parts plus a headlight .....

***Info From Email Response From Headwinds***

This is for the XLH, FXR, FXD bikes with top mounted headlights.

The first option would be to remove the visor that the stock headlight currently mounts too. The first thing you would have to do is drill a 3/8" hole into the bottom of your lower tree. Then you can take one of our mounting blocks, bolt it to the bottom tree and then you can mount any 5 3/4" Headwinds headlights on your bike. Once you have done that, we also made a instrument panel that replaces the visor so you can still mount your indicator lights.

Part number list for above setup:

1-0021XLH - Mounting block for 5 3/4" bullet housings.
1-0002 - Mounting block for 5 3/4" rocket housings.
100-0009-125 - Bolt kit, lower tree to mounting block.
100-0001A - Bolt kit, headlight to mount.
6-0005 - Instrument panel for mounting indicator lights.

1. Turn signals: Mount an LED in the back of the turn signal housing where you can see it while riding.

2. High beam indicater: Who really needs that anyway?

3. Neutral indicater: drill a hole in the dash panel and put an LED in there, too.

Hey Jay,

I emailed Headwinds and asked if they had products that would allow me to relocate my indicator lights and remount my headlight (without the visor). I included their email response in my original post. If you go to their website ( www.headwinds.com ) you can look up the parts they mentioned in the email for descriptions and photos. They also have a price list.

Try this link, which should take you to the page with the 6-0005 Instrument panel for mounting indicator lights.

http://www.headwinds.com/mountsHARLEY.htm

Good luck. By the way, sharp looking bike!

thanks bro.and thanks for the compliment.
the only thing i don't like is drilling a whole through the trees. i actually can't believe that they reccomend this. its very dangerous. it will compromise the strength of the trees them selves. i'll have to check on that with them and harley.

I share your concerns about drilling through the bottom tree. I've felt that way before when we've had homes built and they want to drill through floor joists to run wire and such.

Headwinds also mentioned a 2nd. option. They said that they make a new triple tree for the narrow glide 39MM front ends that already has the hole for the headlight. ( 39MM Triple Trees -- http://www.headwinds.com/newproductsHARLEY.htm ).

I'm also thinking that the 06's that I saw at the dealer had the same set-up. The headlights were bottom mounts from a hole in the bottom tree. I could be wrong.

Just like everything else with our bikes, I guess. Wanting to make a seemingly small change can get complex and cost $$$.

Hi guys, I'm interested in doing this, but curious to know if the indicator lights are replaced in the kit or reused from the visor.
