Did you try to beat him down on price? Those high miles bikes are sometimes better to try to beat the dealer up on a trade. Always ask for receipts on engine work. He will have all the receipts if he is telling the truth. BTW, you are not going to findmany running big twins under $5K no matter how many miles it has.
My buddy just bought this '99 WG last fall for $8500 with 10kmi on it. I'd pass on the one your looking at. Its a buyers market, you can find good low mileage bikes for less than $10k all day long..
You got it Tattoodcaptain,
My 98 wide glide has 65K miles on it and I take pride in every mile i put on it. I also have a 87 Sporty I put over 60K on before I got the Dyna.
Hardriding is the only way to ride. I wouldn't sell my bike expecially to anyone who whines about the mileage on it. It's a Harley and it's rebuildable forever.
You want cheap low miles, go back to ridin Hondas...
I think you guys might be missing the point. I dont have a problem with my bike having 80k mi. I have a problem with buying someone elses bike that I dont know with that many miles, when I could buy a multitude of others with much less mileage. I'm not a fan of "ultra" low mileage bikes, as that can be a bad thing too. But for nearly the same money, I think this one is hardly a bargain... On a car where the technology is much more advanced and a 300k lifecan beexpected with proper maintenance, a 20-80000mi jump is nothing. But on a bike, especially air cooled, that I would often ride by myself through very rural areas, I would prefer to know the history a little better and for there to be less of it. This bike may be fine, but for a few hundred bucks, I'd look for one with about 50-60k less...
