Agree. Can a Dyna frame be modified to have the FXR handling characteristics?

718lbs is "so light" ????? How heavy does a bike have to be to become a big tourer? Weren't the origional FLH's about 700+lbs? A lot of people used to think they were big tourers...
Weight:

1992 FXR - 608 lbs.

The FXRS had WAY better brakes than the FXD--dual front discs.

If you are talking about the FXRS then compare it to the brakes on the FXDF, FXDX, or FXDXT. The current FXDF has dual front brakes and 5 more brake pistons on the bike.

The FXR was a good bike in it's day but don't compare apples to oranges. It does not stack up too well compared to a FXDX. Best one i have seen was an FXR III with a FXDX adjustable front end and brakes on it. Nice.

I have never owned an FXDX, but I hunted for the right priced one for months - no luck. I landed my current FXR/ride for the right price. I think they're both great bikes.
Interesting. Neither the FXR or FXDX are produced anymore ( add in the 1200S too ). What's up with that?

You bring up a good question: Why does Moco drop such good bikes from their line? I think it's because of the short evolutionary cycle caused by intense competition w/ others. They're committed to developing the next generation as they begin assembling the previous one, before they even know which present models will succeed, in a way.

Not everyone knows how wonderful an FXR is. Some of the market rejected it, thinking it looked too much like a Japanese bike. Even today, there are probably only a relative handful of us who fully appreciate them. Yours is a real beauty. Makes me wish I still had mine.

Thank you sir.
Ya know, I sold a previous FXR, years ago and regretted it later. So it goes. Now I have one again. The circle of bike life. There out there if you want one. Everybody should ride what they like, whatever model it is.
Thanks again.

So, the ultiamte fantasy ride for the few of us on this thread would have to be a 120R motor in an FXR frame with some aluminum/composite bits; it would easily beat 550lbs; what an awsome performer that would be and I mean performance of the Harley kind; massive torque from idle on up and that true sound and feel that can only come from the real thing.....the "other" kinds of performance are readily available and serviced with metric wrenches.....
