Default Thanks for the kickstand tip.

I went out riding this afternoon for awhile. The front end clunk is pretty loud and pretty regular now...every time I hit a decent rough area or bump. I came home and did some more internet research on the subject. Tightened my gas tank bolts...they were not actually loose but I tightened them a bit anyhow. I also ran across a thread during my search that talked about the kickstand rattling due to the rubber piece not on right. My kickstand has always made a metal to metal sound when I kick it up. So....I went out and looked and sure enough there's a rubber piece under there and it was turned wrong. I fixed it and no more kickstand clunk. However, that wasn't the clunking problem I had. I'm still waiting on the new washer to install under the fork stem nut. But, at least one problem is fixed!

I have had to adjust that rubber kickstand piece a couple times now. MaybeI should try some adhesive to keep it in place.

You have to watch that spring too. Mine came off when I hit a bridge span at 65mph, releasing the kickstand into a slap-fest against the bottom of the frame. No damage, but had to tie it to the pass. peg to get to the dealer to pick up a new spring. I have a hunch it was not mounted to the peg and stand correctly, which allowed it to pop off on one side when the kickstand dropped down on the hard bump. I'll never know, cause that spring was long gone before I pulled over, but I did notice that the two ends are slightly different.
