Default do the 07 96ci have a heat issue

i was reading for about a 12 pqg4 threade in this boardhttp://www.*****************/forums/twin-cam-96-engine-technical-discussions/110601-possible-solution-t
c-96-heat-other-issues-8.html

some people were having oil temps of three hundred degrees which seems awful hot the only solution seems to be the sert and some custom pipes to allow the engine to breath it sure is a bitch to pay all this money only to spend more to make it rideable

i was stuck in a drive through at carls junior the other night and my right inner thigh was getting cooked alive

have this been an issue with other 07 96 ci riders or is this just an anomoly

I haven't done the stage one yet, or switched to syn oil yet, and it can get pretty warm.&nbsp\\; If you don't want to spend the cash to do all the stage 1 upgrades, I've heard/read on here that changing to syn oil can cool it down a bit.&nbsp\\; I have no proof to the claim, just what I've heard.

Check out the XiED fuel enrichment devices from Nightrider.com

http://www.nightrider.com/parts/

Also, there's an ongoing 48 page thread that will tell you everything you wanted to know about them and then some.&nbsp\\; By the way, Steve, the developer of the product is a great guy and very accessible.&nbsp\\;

I just installed a pair on my Bob last weekend and in my estimation it's the best $100 I've spent on the bike.

My SB seems to run hot during extended&nbsp\\;idling and&nbsp\\;I seem to get a slight split second&nbsp\\;spark knock when accelerating, tink noise (actual sound, TINK), not a rattle (anyone else?). I would like to know if the 08s are experiencing this? I think H-D really leaned out the 07s to pass emissions without CATs and&nbsp\\;I bet they richened them up and added the CATs to the 08s to cool them down. I would like to see if the stock maps are different, wonder if H-D could reflash the 07 PCM with an 08 program? I am probably going to get the H-D download and use&nbsp\\;the Ieds.

You mean TINK as in detonation?&nbsp\\; If that is the case you may want to correct that before you put more miles on it.

Sorry, hit post before I was done.&nbsp\\; To answer your question (from my experience) my 07 was hotter than a 2 dollar pistol from the factory.&nbsp\\; I added a high flow A/C, SE slip ons, and a Fuel Pak, and didn't notice any reduction in heat.&nbsp\\; I later installed XIEDs and noticed an immediate redution in heat.&nbsp\\; I then removed the Fuel Pak and still had the same reduction in heat.&nbsp\\; I am planning on adding a Stage I download or PCIII, but I think the IEDs are helping because they are active during most of my driving range.&nbsp\\; Everything I read on the forums and elsewhere told me that the FuelPak only altered AFR if I was at 50%+ throttle or over 4k RPM, which isn't a lot of my daily riding.

Same here with a PCIII and 103ci.&nbsp\\; No discomfort but gets warm when setting at idle.

stage 1 upgrade (A/C and exhaust), PC3, cams, headwork... will cool things down, dramatically
