Default tire tread depth??

I took my bike in for the 5000 mile service and they told me I needed a new rear tire due to the tread being down to 3/32, well I looked in the book and it says to change it when it gets down to 1/32 and I have heard others say 2/32, I was concerned as to why it was like that at 5000 miles and we determined that it was due to me using the engine to brake. My question is this, which tread depth due you change out the tire?&nbsp\\;

Man I was looking at mt rear tire the other day and noticed that one wear bar was starting to show but the rest of the tire looks to be about 3/32.&nbsp\\; My bike has 6300 miles on it .
&nbsp\\;
I am assuming that the factory tires on these bikes may be inferior quality.&nbsp\\; But that is purely an assumption.

Change your tire when you want. I went by the book and put a new rear on in April. I was down to 1/32. The Dunlops are a soft rubber compound that wears quickly. Keep checking the air pressure and just keep an eye on that tread. The air gauge that I have also has a tread depth gauge on it. I had not heard the one about engine braking causing the wear. I had about 8000 miles on my tire before it went. Read the other threads (check the search function) regarding tire wear. Its all over the place as far as mileage.
