to each their own I guess...I prefer the bobtail fender...and I have forward controls...and fat apes...and loads of chrome...that's right out of the box!

If you go to HD's site and look for forward kits for the Dyna you will have 2 options..1. Kit # xxxxxxx-03 for '03 thru '05 and 2. #xxxxxx-06 for the new Dynas ..
In the parts list between the 2 kits , the only differance is a taller shifter and a taller tranny arm,, plus the gaskets on the 06, and the chrome cap on the 03.. Either kit will work.. you might be better off paying the extrs for the 06 kit and just save the gaskets till later if you ever have to open it up..I was going to have the gasket thing done at the 15 k bearing check but now they tell us this is no longer needed.. the older kit works great on my bike..
Here is a link to a earlier disscusion on this,, it has some photos of my set-up

I lucked out on install cost.Got forwards for x-mas.Then tranny recall came in mail.Talked to Easthapton HD dealer in Southamton Mass.Did recall, frd. install And 1000 mi. maint. at same time.Expected $300-400 bill for install and 1000 mi. $189 bucks out o' pocket.Dealer said most wrenching was already being done while fixing recall. I am reinstalling mid-mount pegs tho.Just gotta bend the ol knees now n then.(forwards not in photo) Name: 2005_1002setb0036.jpg

You can only use the FWD controls that are made for the 06 Dynas, The kit for 05 and older models wont work the shifter linkage is a differnent length, plus you have to remove the inner primary cover to remove the shifter shaft from the primary unlike the older models. My suggestion is that unless you have alot of patieince and are handy with a wrench let the dealer do this mod. That way its done correctly. You do it and mess it up it will cost you more in the long run to have the dealer fix it.

That just my $.02
