now that i think of it....the problem i had was with the shock bolt cover....it kept twisting on me.... and i wondered how the hell i could torque it to 75 without damaging it...i actually had to replace one because i had done so
welcome to disagree just quoting the service manual for an 05
also just changed my shocks to some 412 11" and set the torque wrench at 35 ft-lbs... started to strip the head of the bottom allen head bolt.... torqued to 30 and top to 35...
hold on, 25-40 pounds is a little light.... honestly, though....if i had cranked those upper bolts to 75 pounds, I'd have either stripped the strut or snapped the bolt.. i remember running into this problem when i changed the stock out to the 440s
Paul, Ive had the shock bolts on and off my 06
probably 50 times. Torqued to 85 (top bolt) everytime.
1/2 inch fine thread.
mud
+1 Mudd has got it my \\;uppers are 85 took them off once \\; torqued they have never come loose or broke 7,000 miles ago

either it depends on the year....or the service manual for older models is incorrect....the upper shock locknut is to 60-80 ft-lbs
the bolt is 25-40 ft-lbs....
