06 Dyna axle socket sizes
Does anyone know what size sockets I need for the front and rear axles.
Roughly measured, it looks closer to a metric size of 19mm front and 28mm rear. Is that correct or is it an imperial size?
Also, the fork leg cap nuts, are they 1 3/8" or 35mm?

You sound like a guy without a toolbox.
I usually just eyeball it and then go grab a few socket sizes and go from there.
I dug in my toolbox for you and the rear is a 1 and 1/8". I didn't have metric sockets that went that big so I don't know if one of those would fit better.
On the front either a 19mm or 3/4" will fit.

Thanks Powercobra. I tried the 1 1/8" on the rear axle but it didn't seem a snug fit and I don't have a 28mm socket.
Front seems good with a 19mm.
You a right though, I need more tools. You guys in the USA seem to have every conceivable tool gadget and gizmo, whereas in the UK we do race engine prep with a bent screwdriver and a pair of molegrips[sm=smiley36.gif]

Quite honestly if you buy one of those 300 or so piece tool kits they will pretty much have every size socket you will ever need. I've had to buy a few extra here and there but for the most part you'll get most everything you need.
I don't know what kind of stores you have over there but I think I just bought a 250+ piece kit from Sears and I've been pretty well covered.

Yeah, bear in mind though that in the UK we seem to pay in £'s what you guys pay in $'s.
I seem to have ended up with odds and ends of all sorts of tools over the years and after my days with pre unit Triumphs and Beezers were over, I thought that was the end of Imperial sizes.
The Harley seems to have some metric and some Imperial.
But [sm=youreright.gif], a trip to Machine Mart for me at the weekend.

i'm a technician for bmw's and most of my tools are metric. if i didn't work for dodge for two years prior i wouldn't have any. i also have a hard time viewing nut and bolts in american sizes.

I spent so much time wrenching on my S-10, ditching GM's first all metric motor (2.8) for a V8 that I could tell at a glance whether a fastener was metric or standard and what size it was! Sad.
