I would look at mid controls with Highway pegs. I am 5'7 and it works perfect on my SG. I can brake and shift from either set of pegs so its nice to have 2 options. Plus since you are shifting/braking with your heels from the highway pegs you are not having to reach for them.
Forwards are the best way to go for taller guys but I think mids work better for the shorter folks.
Thanks for all the suggestions folks. Here are my thoughts.
I want the Fat Bob 'cause I love the look.
I want the forwards because I like the looks and that's what I'm used to.
here is my present bike with forwards...just the perfect 'reach' for me.
I'm about 5'"6 and was convinced the Fat Bob with mid-controls was the way to go for me. The dealer had a hard time finding me one in Vivid Black. I had not even test drove a Fat Bob at all, just sat on one with mid-controls. Long story short...test drove the Vivid Black with forward-controls and bought it right then and there. Been luvin' the ride ever since. In my case, it would have been a mistake to go with the mids. I'm used to ridin my crotch rockets, but, luv the stretched out ride on my HD.
