Wait until you try to remove the front fender, I broke a ratchet extension on it. There was white stuff in the threads, maybe thats what blue loctite looks like after it dries.
On bolts like that it helps to pop the bolt a coupla times with a hammer, make absolutely sure you're using the right size wrench, seat it good with a tap from a hammer and then use a piece of heavy metal tubing about a foot long on the wrench to give you some extra and controllable leverage.
...on a 08 Street Bob. I am able to remove the nut on the right side (toward rear) easily, but the bolt on the left side (toward mid) doesn't seem to want to budge no matter what. It almost seems like if I use anymore force the tool is going to snap.
Is this thing just on there tight as all hell or is there something like lock tight used here or something?
I know I'm not the strongest guy in the world, but I'm surprised how tight this bolt is and I'm hesitant to use anymore force if there's something I'm missing...
*** And yea, I've kept trying with more force and it's not budging at all...all I'm gonna end up doing is stripping the thing... ***
I had the same problem this weekend, except i ripped a hole in my finger, stripped the bolt, and broke my bit in "one last push". I called a friend and he said "Why didnt you just heat it up a little"..............
I had the same problem. I used a air impact wrench with an extension to get past the rear footpeg mount. A couple of good bumps and it came off with out stripping the head.
