I bought an 04 Super Glide and althought I love the thing I have a few ?'s. This was originally an American market bike but one thing I noticed is the rear signal lights are red. Were the originals Amber? Also when the brakes are used the taillight and the signals flash 4 times before they stay on. Have buds with various year hogs from shovels to new and none of thier putts do this. Was this an option or aftermarket? Want to put smoked lenses on the signals but all I see available is amber bulbs and would like to keep the signals operating as is. Apoligize for the newbie ?'s but the last Hog that I straddled till now was a 79 Shovel. I am sure there have been a few changes since the early 80's.

 

You are correct in that the originals were amber. Sound like someone installed a module that converts the turn signals into running/stop lights, I know Harley sales a kit to do this which includes the red lenses. The brake lights have an aftermarket modulator installed that provides the flashing brakes.

Thanks for the help. I don't have the slightest intensions of going back to the original setup. Perhaps I can find some red two stage bulbs that will work with the smoke lenses. Actually the signal lights act the same as a car work as brake lights when the signal is not active.
