For about the first 4,000 miles I owned my '05 Super Glide, I got an average of 42.120 MPG in mixed (mostly highway) driving. The best I recorded was just over 49, a 48; but those numbers were anomolous--I think due to not quite topping it off as much one time to the next.

Since I installed new A/C, opened up my pipes and installed a Dobeck Techlusion EFI module, my average fuel mileage has slipped by 4.7 MPG to an average of 37.424. I think I might lean it out just a touch ... I hate the thought that my fuel economy has slipped that much. A few extra MPG would be a good thing, I think.

I am amazed at some brothers reporting over 50 MPG! Must be that 6-speed vice my 5-speed transmission????

Any thoughts?

I added the K&N heavy breather, Cobra pipes and Cobra fuel processor and I get about 35-38 MPG depending on how and where I ride.

I beat my bike pretty well, accelerate hard, shift near red line. I've got the SE air cleaner and V&H Longshots. I get 43-46 MPG.

You said you have a stage one with slipons, did you have your bike dyno'ed and ECM fattened up to allow more fuel? If you did that's where your fuel mileage is. Fuel mileage is also directly proportion to your rpm's at shift points and any other throttle movements.
My 02 carbed FXD w/ stage 1 can get 48 mpg, my 05 FXDLI w/ stage one and a DFO recently got 50 mpg. So it's up to drivers habits.

Around town I get about 36-38 mpg. On trips keeping it below 70 I get 44-45 mpg.
