I am getting ready to install the Kuryakyn Informer gas gauge/ battery indicator P/N 8375, and matching gas cap P/N 8309. Need the informer to compensate for the 2" tank lift since it can be calibrated to indicate empty at any tank volume (how cool is that)!http://www.kuryakyn.com/index.cfm/go...etail/IMID/396
Would any of my Dyna brothers have the the pinout for the speedometer cable? Per the instructions, I need to cut the yellow/white wire under the speedometer and solder it to the gray wire on the informer.
Curious to know what the yellow/white wire is used for, and was wondering if I could just splice into it and still keep it connected. Won't know for sure until I know what that wire is used for.
Don't have the manual in front of me - but I believe that your new gauge will now turn on the low fuel lamp on the speedo. Not sure how this worked with the old gauge? If you just splice in - it's not going to work correctly.
I will look up that wire tonight, no manual here at work, but when I installed mine I did not calibrate, and since adding my 2" lift it has actually made it more accurate.
I am very happy with it, have the matching gas cap as well and they are a great looking combo. Only thing I have from Kury that I am happy with. Have had it for 3 years now and no issues.
No I never calibrated at all. It seemed accurate when I first turned it on and throughout the first couple tanks, so I never messed with it.
I have about 3/4 of a gallon now when the red lights first comes on after adding the 2" tank lift, so I am pleased with the way the lift affected it.
I just set my trip gauge to zero after filling up and once I hit 150 miles I'll calibrate the informer - then no reason to stare at the trip gauge every day!
