I had a 1995 Wide Glide that was in very good condition and only had 11k miles. Well in the middle of last summer I got the itch for a bigger bike and ended up with a 2004 Electra standard. It is a sharp bike, looks like a street glide and has tons of chrome, but I find myself really missing my dyna. I am 24 years old 5'8" and 175lbs, the new bike is very comfortable but it is just too big and heavy it took all of the fun out of riding. I bought a different seat and a lowering kit (not yet installed) to see if it is easier to handle. I miss hammering on my dyna and throwing it around turns and such. I have a feeling come spring I will be bike hunting again.
I don't think the lowering kit and seat are going to bring back the handling you felt with the dyna I would think that going back to a 90's dyna from a 2004 touring bike might actually make you some money (ignoring what you already spent!).
I know how you feel. Been tossing around the idea of a bagger myself, but I think I would miss my Wide Glide too much. I'm about to turn 52, but I still just love the way the Wide Glide looks and feels going down the road. Two bikes are out of the question now since my wife just got her own. Maybe in a few more years I'll think about a Street Gllide...
The problem with switching back is I paid about $13,500, $14 in total with taxes ect. (not sure if it was worth that because it has 25k miles but it has tons of chrome so that made me want it more). Since then the economy has done nothing but fall so I can't sell it without losing a lot of money. Also winter doesn't help right now either. If I could do it over again I would have bought Boss bags and a Big bore for my 95 and been done.

Keep the Standard....Just add the Wide Glide....you will be happy you did.
