I agree with a lot of guys here, if you go with the bb kit than go with head work & cams. After I did the wheels and all the chrome I was happy with the way my bike looked and then I did the 103". I'm very happy with my build and the best advice I can give you is No matter who you have do your build(indy or dealer, aftermarket or SE) get a build for your style of riding. High hp & tq #'s are great, but only if there where you actually use them.
CHad is DEAD Nuts on with this one! My $$$$ is tight! i am going to just drop in some cams and have the heads done... then a good tune! later i will cought up the $$$ for the bore!
Definetly do it. I am waiting for my GMR 107 kit to be shipped. The aftermarket shops can set you up according to your riding stlye much better than an off the shelf SE kit.
If ya got the money to do it all, start shoppin! If you don't, put in the cams that you want to run in your future build (as long as they aren't high lift or long duration). It's gonna cost you the same to do the cams now, or later. Might aswell enjoy some performance for now!
I just did the 95 SE Stage II BBK on my 05FXDI,in fact just rode it home yesterday. It's like a brand new bike. The ride home was about 40 miles and I'll say this kit is well worth the money.I'll have to learn to ride a little different. There is alot more get up and go now.I'm for more go than show. You can easily spend more on a set of rims and matching rotors plus tires than on one of these kits. You can always add the shiny stuff later.
Thanks all for your input and advice. I will try to make a smart decision on how the build goes, but guess I am going to go that route vice the other mods. Will let you know how it goes and what my opinion is on the result. I know I will be going through withdrawl as they do the work; usually what happens when I go a day or so without riding it... :-)
