ive been looking on ebay for take off parts and have found a few complete front ends.. some wide glide and some 06 and up superglide fronts as well......................should i steer away from this stuff or what???
No problem if they are stock. Three things... No damage to em. Only get the trees from a Dyna wideglide front. Reason is the forkstop is different than the wideglide front's on the softails(nighttrain, deuce, softail custom). Another thing is the year of the front end. Pre 2000 (or99) had a different front brake caliper.
You can use softail triple trees, but it'll require a little more work ... not a direct bolt on without some cutting and grinding on the frame and triple trees.
I know of several satisfied e-bay buyers of take-off front ends (myself included).
what kind of modificaions are saying priest??? grinding on the steering stop on the frame??????.....................tim
With the front end that Priest and myself used you do have to grind/cut the steering stop off the frame. You also have to do a fair amount of grinding on the lower tree. The softail stops don't allow for much turning on a Dyna.
