There's a great biker store here called Renegades and they sell Harley Boots for 50 to 80 bucks. I like zip up boots. Hate futzin with the laces. I've found great deals on Ebay too. The softer the boot the quicker I tear up the left one.
I like this thread, gives a guy a lot of options to look at!
I've been wearing the Oxstar Matrix for about 5 years now. They are more sport-touring, but they are waterproof, warm in the winter and cool in the summer, breath, fit well, and walk well. Plus they come with steel ankle and shin protection built in. They are finally pretty well wore out after ALOT of miles on and off the bike!
I'd like to replace them with something else, but I don't like boots with straps, or all the metal tags that say Harley on them. Not my style! Haven't ridden in the rain much in the last 2 years, maybe I can get away with a lace up logger or roper. Ah hell, maybe I'll just go with the Oxtar again!
I like the H-D Sheridans...lace-up, with inside leg zipper. Ebay NIB $65.
X2 on the lace-ups, with inside zipper. Really a nice boot. Matters not if it's warm or cold, different socks and you're good to go. Rode last weekend over an hour at 35 deg. Used a Wigwam wool sock and feet stayed nice and warm. They won't be good for rain tho....
Long road trips I wear the HD Engineer boots. I put in the gel pads or they are a killer to walk in even after 10 years. I also have a pair of Rocky Tactical boots that I bought at the local cop shop. They are 100% waterproof and easy on the feet........
I like the Icon Super Duty 2 boots...had 'em when I was riding my Kawi Z1000. Bought a pair of Harley boots, but the Icons are a bit lighter and just feel better on my feet.
I do some PGR missions where I'm standing in flag lines for hours sometimes. had the Harley zippers and although they looked really cool they where crap as far as comfort and the same issue with the zipper blowing out.
now it's Dr. Martin all the way. most comfy boots I've owned right out of the box, no break in at all.
as far as water proof boots I go with Danner, same thing absolutly no break in, comfy right out of the box.
