You could relocate the key like a few of us have.

Guess there is no point in saying a Touring or Softail doesn't have that mickey mouse key switch like a jap bike or a Sportster. Just turn the switch on with your key and put it in your pocket.

For the life of me, I can't find it, but I'm sure I read a post/thread about doing just that.

I asked the dealer about this and they told me that it would not work if you shaved the little nub off the round body key.

Can anyone confirm or bebunk this?

consider it debunked. i had a couple spare keys made up a while back, and decided that this would be a worthy sacrifice for one of them. i filed it off and it works fine. it still only goes into the ignition where it was last taken out, due to the tab on the inside, only now the key can be removed with the ignition on. works great

edited to add: i have the under-seat ignition, not the ignition combined with the fork lock, just in case anyone considers this to be relevant, though i don't see how the two switches could be different enough that this would matter

Cool! I actually have an extra spre key as well to test this out on. I have the lock on the neck, but like to you said should be the same

Who's the f*king genious who invented the "fall on the ground" key? That has always annoyed me since I bought mine. Didn't the engineers notice this during testing?

They must have considered it "old skool" and kept it, or even more devilish, a way to talk people into a more expensive bike that doesn't have that stupid neck mount key.

I'm really leaning to just grinding off the nub on a spare key and trying that for now. Although reaching back into my pocket to put it in just to turn it off and pull it out again. Hmmm, would be making more work for myself?
