If I only had to wait 2 or 3 minutes, I would just cut the ignition off and leave the key alone. More than that I would take it out. I don't know about you guys but if my a$$ is off the seat, the key is in my pocket. I would definitely be upset, appalled, mortified, taken aback, and downright pissed to walk out of a gas station or something and watch some turd riding off on my scoot. Then I would have to kill the bastard and that would just make the day worse for everyone.

I'm with you and ROMARK. Pump the gas and leave. If you are going in the gas station I hope anybody is smart enough to take the key out and take it with them. For whoever was thrown back and the other guy that is worried about pumping gas while the ignition is on, that's why you turn off the Ignition switch on the handle bars. With the key set to ignition doesn't mean the ignition is on that just activates the handle bar switch. If the switch is off umm....no ignition, no fuel pump and no starter. You have a better chance of starting a fire with your hott A$$ exhaust before your ignition if you were dumb enough to leave it on, but luckily you have to shut your bike off when you pump gas.
Speaking of dumb questions, but I thought the new bikes have the FOB attached to the key. If its not within 5 ft of the bike it wont start? I keep my key in my pocket and never lock it unless Im leaving it somewhere Ive never been and not gonna be around it for a while. Maybe I live in the sticks....I dont know.
The key on the 2007 I just got is a pain as well. The fork lock thing never works, so I don't plan on using it and risk it getting stuck locked.
For the guy who said it's hard to turn, I had that problem big time on my old Sportster and just went to the auto store for lock lubricant. Fixed it right up.
Just with a standard keychain metal loop that is easily removed. And a lot of the base Dynas, and many other Harleys don't have the FOB unless you pay extra for it, or the dealer has it preinstalled. I see about a 50/50 ratio of new Harleys across all models with the security system. And it is a lot less then 5 feet most of the time. Seems any more then a foot or so away, it ain't starting. I can go about 2 foot away with the road king, but I gotta be within a foot on the Dyna.
