Default True Track Test Ride-OOPS!

Finally got out on my 98 WideGlide tonight. Lots of winter mods, but the one I wanted to try the most was the True Track install. Right away I noticed a difference. Very stable from the first corner on. Didn't push it too hard though because....
I guess I forgot to tighten the travel limit bolt on the front stabilizer. Ahem, like the instructions say to do.

The bolt backed out, seemed to lock the motor from travel, and then the vibrations increased a lot. Tried to turn it in by hand, but no luck.
Rode home, about 10 miles, easy.
Vibrated my left front signal off. Checking everything.

Other than that, I gotta say the thing works.
Makes my bike feel like the front and rear are better connected. Does that make sense?

Hey, even the vertical stop works perfect!

Congrats and enjoy the new ride.

This is the travel limit bolt. Tighten her up when you do yours!

I see the bolt isn't adjusted according to the instructions (3/8").
People I've spoken to have it adjusted like yours. Does it do anything except cause problems if not locked into place?

Instructions call to tighten it up with 3/8 clearance.
I failed to tighten it up!
Any pics of a properly set up bolt?

Yes it does, hence the name True Track. The rear of the bike tracks true to the front end.

Mine's a bagger but the True Track straightened my $hit out!

Is this a bolt that is going to have to be constantly tightened and checked every so often? And I don't see which bolt your talking about in the picture.

There's a lock nut on it Adrian, just tighten it up and it won't back out and lock the engine from moving vertical.

When I installed mine, I was only able to get a maximum of 5/16" clearance with the bolt screwed down completely. It seems to be OK.

I don't see that it is much of an issue. I think True Track is the only manufacturer that has the limit stop. If the motor moves enough to need that stop, you probably need to replace the rubber mount.

The system works. Enjoy the solid ride!

Keep in mind the TT is made to work on all Dyna models. From what I've read, the motor mounts on the 06 and up frames were beefed up versus the older frame. It could be that this limit bolt on the TT is really needed more on the older Dynas that had softer motor mounts to begin with.
