I really didnt want a windshield for mine either but bought a HD quick release for winter riding and long trips. It makes a huge difference on long rides and mine ends up on mine more than I thought it would. I do still enjoy taking it off and riding but if going on a all day ride or trip its usually on.
I hate the look of windshields on my bike too but I had to have one for longer trips so I went ahead and bought the Memphis Shades Rio Grande. Was around $175 total I believe. Yea it almost always is sitting in the garage but the times I do need it, it's good to have it there and available.
That's actually a good lookin' shield! I might get one of those
Who gives a rat's f**k what other people think. If you want a windshield go buy one. You could always buy the Quick detachable one and put it on the bike for longer rides, or take it off for shorter ones.
Yeah! It's your body, your trip and your bike.
I have the quick detachable W/S and can have it off and on or verse visa in a matter of seconds. It's great, and down here in high desert of SE New Mexico the wind can be really ugly at times.
You could always try ebay for a reasonably priced one. Or maybe hit a junkyard. I know in NJ there used to be quite a few (specialized in metrics) that I would frequent for parts for my old ride. Maybe you can find a decent windshield that you can make fit on the cheap.
The bag idea isn't bad either. Enough to block the direct blast of wind, but not completely.
date a chick bigger than you. You can sit on the passenger seat and let her drive you around. You won't look very cool but you won't have to worry about a winshield. I like this one...bcb
I think windshields look like *** on anything smaller than a Road King and they really don't even look that good on them. If you don't care how your bike looks or what people think of you why ride a Harley? you could get a Gold wing or one of those big scooters that comes with a fairing or a Volvo station wagon. All of which would be more comfortable and look just as good as a Dyna with a clear piece of plastic hung off the front of it.I have ridden motorcycles without a windshield all my life and I'm here to tell you you can get used to it and when you do you won't be too fatigued to lift a beer when you get there and you won't look like a dork on the way.Roll up a sleeping bag or a duffle and bungee it to the bars it'll break up the wind some and probably wont cost anything.
Well it's good thing that rant was only your opinion and not some sort of judgmental ****...

This is my first windshield on a bike in about 40 years, don't mind it a bit. It's detachable so I can setup my bike for whatever riding I want to do that day.

OK the disclaimer was lame, putting a windshield on a motorcycle is like wearing a helmet on a bicycle it might be a good idea but it'll never look good. And this does not mean I think purpose built fairings on Sport bikes or touring rigs look stupid if they're done right they look like they're part of the motorcycle. You know "back in the day" the only people you'd see with a windshield were old farts now maybe stubborn old farts like me are the only ones who won't jump on the windshield bandwagon.
