I just picked up a used corbin hollywood solo for my 2004 fxdx. The corbin seat uses a mounting bracket with a post on it that locks into the seat. The seat has around ¼” play up and down at the back of the seat. I'm certain that I have the right model seat for my bike. Is this normal for corbin seats? Thanks
I've got the same seat, but there's only enough play to pop it on & off with ease (maybe 1/16 or so) which seems just right! 1/4 sounds like too much, something might be out of whack?
I bought mine used on ebay.
it had some play - probably close to 1/4.
Even though it was advertised as "new", someone had hacked up the rubber bumpers on the bottom and made them shorter. I added some sticky pads to them - OK now.
I have a 2 up corbin as well. same type of design but different post system. It doesn't fit well at all - it's always loose. I like the corbin seats but I hate this post system that they used for the 04-05 models.
Thanks guys. I've got it fixed with no play now. I'm not sure what the normal configuration is but the spike that goes into the seat had two lock washers between it and the t shaped bracket that mounts to the frame. I removed one of the washers and everything is perfect. Now I have to give the seat a little slap to get it to engage all the way but it feels rock solid. Next I need to see if I can get a solo rack to work with the seat.
