hello all
I just joined this site and it's awesome. I already used some info to diagnose a bad voltage regulator on my 99 superglide. Now, my question is how do i uncover the main circuit breaker so i can replace the wire that runs from the regulator to the main breaker....Thanks to all who respond
On the left (shifter) side just under the seat there should be two metal housings, the front one is for the coils with wires that go to the spark plugs, the rear houses the other electronics. It is the rear one that you are interested in and is about 4" tall, 6" wide, and 3" deep. Even though there are 4 hex head bolts, the assembly is held in place with 4 rubber grommets so you should be able to pop it out. After popping that out, there is a metal plate, the rear of which you should be able to see the fuse assembly, with 4 nuts that needs to be removed. Toward the back and on the bottom is the main circuit breaker. On one side is the starter wire (I believe this is the copper post), the other is ignition and voltage regulator (silver post). Don't forget to disconnect your negative/ground on the battery because you run the risk of touching your socket wrench, which when attached to the copper or silver posts is positive, to the post that holds the metal plate, which is negative (don't ask me how I know).
