Angry HD Front signal relocation

Do I HAVE to "purge the high-pressure fuel line and disconnect the fuel line" to move my tank so that I can "gain access to the steering head harness shield"?

It would be so much easier if I could just disconnect the socket from the wire going to the turn signal.

it will make things alot easier. it is a 2 minute procedure. read the manual. once you move the tank back there will be alot more room to get to the wires.

Sadly, you'll find our REAL quick that the only way to do most small things is to remove 4-5 other things which turn a potential 5 minute job into a 3 hour job.

Sucks, but it is the way it is.

Thumbs up Front Signal Relocation

I just did this without disconnecting the lines to the tank. I took out both of the tank mount bolts and moved the tank up and aft far enough to access the wires. I saved the mess of spilling fuel and the work of reconnecting the lines. I believe this is the better way of doing this task. I never like doing more than is necessary. I also put forward controls on my bike without removing the primary. I always try and find the easiest way. That is one reason I like this forum, I have many like minded friends out there. Best of luck with whatever way you decide to go.

The gas line is a quick connect. You don't have to purge it, just push up on the chrome ring right below the tank. It should just pop off. With that you can move the tank far enough back to get access to the wires in the neck. BUT make sure you put something on top of the cylinder heads before you slide the tank back. Those clamps on the bypass tube will scratch the crap out of any chrome or paint they touch. Good luck.

I got home from work today and thought "I'll get this done before the wife gets home at 6. It should only take about a half hour."

Thanks for the tips. There's something good in each one. That's why I had to put this out on here. This is a great forum.

I just relocated my lights. The quick disconnect works as advertised. DOn't quote me though. I would still have the left side of the bike covered and something to catch any gas. But I only saw a single drop of gas the instant I popped off the quick disconnect.

No, but there is good info during the thread that I can use later. Too many times I see something in these forums that I want to remember, only to forget which thread it was in.
