Default Super Glide Custom vs. Street Bob

I am looking to purchase my first new harley and have it narrowed down to the Super Glide Custom and the Street Bob. It seems like for the same money you get a lot more with the SGC such as two-up seat, passenger pegs, and a lot more chrome. Am I missing something here?

I would say the superglide custom is probably the best "bang for your buck". The prices between the two are pretty close but it depends on the style your going for.

Not missing a thing. You do get more, materially, with the SGC. But 2 different looking dynas. So, it depends on what you want. If you want more "stuff" for your money, and you lean towards the chrome lovers side as I do, then the SGC is a good deal. If you like more of a blacked out bobber style for a solo rider, then the SGC just isn't quite the bike.

As far as plain old bang for the buck, the SGC is hard to beat.

You're not missing anything, the FXDC is more bike for the same money.
Harley is taking advantage of the latest fad of less is more regarding the Street Bob price.

Yep, you are right. But I sat on a Bob and just fell in love about 2-3 years ago. So that has always been my dream bike. Finally got one and customized it to what I want (never been a big chrome person).

If it wasn't about love and presonal preference, it wouldn't be a Harley.

2 great bikes. I looked them both over real good before I bought my FXDC 3 weeks ago. I liked both bikes but it came down to me loving chrome. Incidently, I liked the solo look so much of the Bob that I get my first mod today from UPS, a mustang wide solo seat. I've done my part for the economy, between buying the bike and all the leather wear and now the mods, I'm spending money like a drunkin sailor.

Iron 883-

I too like the solo look and the chrome so thought of doing the same thing. Do you have any pics with of your bike with the mustang seat on?

Going solo on the FXDC is easy and cheaper than going 2-up on a bike that comes setup for solo. All you need is a solo seat and an extra seat nut kit and maybe something to plug the back seat nut when you aren't using it. Choice of seats is endless. I started out with a stock street bob seat I picked up from the classifieds here and then went with a Lepera Barebones. I prefer solo myself but it's nice to be able to swap the seat to a 2-up and pop on the detachable backrest in a couple of minutes when the wife wants to ride.

good point 2007fxdc. Your bike is sort of what I envisioned mine looking like eventually. How comfotable is the barebones seat? looks bad *** but thin.
