Default need closer seat

I just picked up my 09 FXDC, I am 5'6", I has forward controls installed. I can touch the controls, I just don't have much room to strech, and can nearly sit fully flat footed. I would like to sit somewhat closer to the bars. After extensive searching I cannot find the answer to my specific question. So the HD reach seat says moves you 1" closer ( I am assuming this is from the stock seat since it is a HD product) while the Lepera Silhouette up close says 3" closer. Is this from the stock seat, or the standard Silhouette? Is there anyone out there that has tried both that can tell me which moved you forward more? Anybody......
BTW I don't care for the big clunky touring seats, I don't care about long distance comfort, and I can't go with a solo as my wife won't allow and I don't like the separate pillion pad look. Really only interested in the comparison of these two models unless there is something similar out there that I am missing. I also don't want to wait weeks for a seat as I have a brand new bike in the garage that I want to ride comfortably.....now. Thanks for any help

surely someone has some input, I see female riders about the same size as me riding these bikes all the time.

I feel like the pillow look seat puts me closer to the controls but raises me up and I have more trouble backing up. The shock adjustment might help me with the back up problem.

i would look at which is gonna be more comfortable also if the wife is riding. or if it would be easier to go back to the mid controls and just have highway bars like i do. i love my setup and was thinking of the forwards but just like the mids too much. either way, i would say the reach seat might be a lil better as the lepara seats ive seen arent that comfortable. just my two cents.

I have a Lepera Sorrento 2up with gel and a Barebones for my FXDSE2. Love the Sorrento for mid distance riding. Sits me low and back and is narrow yet comfortable. The Barebones is an excellent short range (one hour at a time) seat.

My wife is 5'6" and she just bought a FXDF. Put the Barebones on it and she loves it. Granted she will not ride long distances by herself. But it lowered her and made her feel more comfortable on the bike. There is a slight reach problem as she is stretching a bit for the forward controls and drag bars. We will probably buy her a Barebones Up Front which will move her nearly 3 inches closer.

I feel you can't go wrong with Lepera. The best looks, above average comfort and endless custom possibilities. If you want strictly comfort buy a Sundowner. For all other catagories buy Lepera.

If you like your stock seat, but want to move up some, you can have Mean City Cycles or a local upholsterer add some material to it.

I have done this myself and it's not that hard. If you've never done this type of work it can be intimidating.

Another thing that may help is a heel rest...it keeps my feet from sliding and that tense feeling in the upper thighs. I'm 5'7" with a 30" inseam.

Only $42 and well worth it IMO.

Default For what it's worth. . . .

I'm barely taller than you, and I tried the HD Reach seat. I thought it was very hard, and it felt like I was sitting on the tank -- with my legs spread uncomfortably. I hated it. I put the stock seat back on and converted my Street Bob back to mid-controls, and Snap! --the bike fit me as well as my Nightster (where I needed forwards to be comfortable). Again, just for what it's worth: my control and comfort with the bike went up DRAMATICALLY with the mid controls.

The forwards on my WG would be rather uncomfortable to me with pegs. Floorboards make the bike much more comfortable, and give me a lot of options on riding positions. I can stretch my legs out by sticking the back of my heels over the front part of the boards. I can sit almost as though I had mids by resting my toes on the back of the boards. ... and everything in between.

Dude, go to Mean city cycles had them redo my stock seat to move me 1 inch down and 1 inch closer to the pegs, and had memory foam added. did a great job for around 120 bucks
