My first time with the Harlot!
I will never forget. I sold my 08 Nightster at the begining of summer 2011. Rode my buddies 1997 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 for the summer. Anyway I looked at bikes all summer long. Found 1 on Salem oregon craigslist. Anyway I truly fell in love with the bike. Here's the thing though, I was not going to have all of the money until Late September and I beleive it was July when I found the bike (longest summer ever)... Anyway had the guy send me videos of the bike running etc.. Commited to buying bike sight un-seen as long as all looked good when I got there (good thing because the guy had a cash offer the next day that he turned down). Anyway drove from Spokane WA, to Portland Oregon to pick her up. I was very nervous the guy kept telling me that the pics did not do the bike justice, boy was he right. Instant Love! Had a bit of a scare after I paid the guy the $7250 for 2001 chromed and built FXDWG, couldnt get the bike to stay running. Turns out when he was showing me the features he truned the Pingel petcock off which I didnt realize so once I figured it out was off and running. I rode her home with 2 inch forward extensions barely able to reach the controls LOL. What better way to get to know your new scoot than a 400 mile ride the first day. Bummer is I have only been able to ride her about a dozen times since, I sure wish spring would hurry!

As for me, I was riding around on an MG Breva for over a year in Germany. Bike goes fast!
However, after being on it for about an hour, I always ended up with serious back and shoulder pain. Worst part is, im a young guy who is developing physical issues early. So after talking to the wife - about how it wouldnt cost me anything to upgrade to my dream bike, a Harley - I set out in search of a way get one.
At first I was just going to buy another bike, but I couldnt ride the MG any more. So I put it up for sale. In Germany, a good used MG can go anywhere from 6K to 20K fast! And thats in Euros! However, I found a guy that collects them and wanted it immediately, who would pay me 7K cash on the spot. After seeing his other pristine MGs, I was willing to sell it because I knew he would take care of my first bike.
At the same time, I was looking for a Harley to buy all over Europe. I found a Retired Army Warrant living in Bamberg who was selling his '06 FXDI with a bunch of extras for 7K. I HAD JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT! I called him up, drove out there, and we connected instantly. The bike was brand new with about 4K miles on it, and in perfect condition. Two weeks later I had it and was riding it back to Mannheim (3 hours ride) the same day.
She was stock when I got her, looks completely different now, and has been all over Europe with her. Now time for riding her around the states a bit before I move her permanently to Japan or back to Europe, which ever comes first.

After a year or so thinking about it, I told my wife I could expect a mid life crisis fairly soon, and that they normally involved a mistress, a sports car or a bike.
She said I could have either of the ones with tyres, but not the one with the ****.
Went to bike school through the winter to learn to ride again as I hadn't touched a bike in 27 years.
Then I went to the dealership. They had the exact bike I wanted (2014 FXDF, Denim Black). Did the deal there and then.

Looked around at some local dealers for a evo dyna but they wanted way too much money. Rode my chopper with my dad to the local Harley dealer to get a part for his road king and they had an 06 leftover (end of 06) sitting on the floor. Some dickering and me walking out. Hey chased me into the parking lot and a deal was struck.

sold my Triumph. Decided I wanted a Harley. Was bored walking around a mall while the old lady shopped so I browsed ebay from my cell phone. Threw out a bid on one in georgia that was ending within the hour. Ended up winning it before we even left the mall.
We both flew to Nashville, TN from MI where she split off and got us a hotel. I continued the flight to ATL and rode the bike back up to meet her where we partied it up in music city, then rode up to Louisville for a night of more partying on 2nd street, then back to MI.

Heard a guy I used to work with had a bike sitting in his barn back in 2010, he didn't ride anymore. Went to look at it (it was covered in dust), seen potential.... Counted out 82 one hundred dollar bills and he took it.... No regrets! It's changed a little....

Was doing a tour over in Afghanistan, used to make the trip from my camp down to the PX once a week for smokes, they had a overseas car buying program shop setup down there, and HD has a little office. On a whim went in and talked to the sales rep, low and behold I got back home to Pensacola after my tour and went a picked up my Wide Glide!

My son bought a '12 SB and brought it by for show and tell. Fell in love with the fat fork tubes and the 1 1/4" frame tubes, fit and finish...yada yada yada! Two days later I had my '12 FB in the garage. Oh...didn't stumble once! I love this machine!
