Sold my 2005 FLHT a few years ago, been looking ever since. Wanted a Dyna when I bought it and found a black 2010 FXDC with a great deal last Oct. Been working on it all winter.
I don't post often but I read the forums daily. I have not figured out how to post pics yet however I will learn soon. I had been wanting a wide glide for many years. Bought an 07 street glide a few years ago and practically gave up on the WG. I really don't like the style of the new model and I wanted a classic old carbed model. I guy I know had a 03 with a really slick 155 of 200 paint job and a ton of chrome and engine work. He started asking 13500 for it at the begining of last summer. By summers end he came down to 10500. Well in November of last year I went to see this guy and on whim offered him 7500.00. We settled on 8250.00. 5 grand worth of wheels, brakes, rotors, pulleys and ape hangers later I have the sickest 2003 WG in my area. I know I will never get the money back out of her but she is all mine and I finally got the cool classic WG that I have waited for all these years. I hope to figure out how to post pics soon.
LOL
I was looking to add another ride to my collection, have a 06 Goldwing, and it needed to be a classic looking bike. Something that looked more traditional, spokes, classic lines, etc. That is what drew me to the Super Glide Custom. Didn't want aluminium mag style wheels, nor did I want forward controls. Classic ride and styling. Price wasn't part of the equation and quite frankly in terms of the price point thought that the SG was a helluva deal compared to the other Dyna choices. I may have missed something, but I don't see much different from a Fat Bob to a SG other then wheels (and rear fender), but yet the price is much higher. Did I miss something?
I love my Ultra Classic when going cross country but felt guilty using it for every day errands and general local riding. I picked up this 2008 Street Bob as an insurance total for $7K with only 2K on the odometer. At that price and some smart buys on eBay (also no fear of painting) I have basically a brand new Duo-Glide clone for well under $8K.
Had a '96 Sporty that I loved. I was riding her all the time and I realized I needed something bigger for some longer distances. Searched craigslist and came across my SB. Didn't know much about the SB - did a little research and loved the minimalist look. Then took her for a test ride, and bought it on the spot. That was 11.5 months ago. Haven't looked back since!
Bought my SB in January 08 from the Nassau Harley. First new bike I have ever owned. Finished paying her off in Feb. 2010. Totaled her in June 2010, left turning SUV. Bought my current ride, 07 Low Rider in August 2010 and couldn't be happier. I really loved my SB, but I like being a little different and I feel there are plenty of the Dark Customs out there and the Low Rider is like a complete opposite.
Well, Saying I'm short would be an understatement(I'm 5'4 with the wind at my back, 5'3 without it). Wanted a bike and was looking at a sporty first. Did not like the balance of the Sportster, and got on one of the first Street Bob's Jim Harley Davidson in St.Petersburg Fl had on the floor. Loved it and Bought that same day. Plus it fit me best.
