Got a 50,000$ settlement check from my accident with a drunk driver, went to bank they said all funds are available today, went 2 blocks down the road, walked in to the dealership asking what kind of a deal I can get if I payed cash today on this '10 Wideglide, (I was 20 years old ) got it out the door for 14,500 total.
I was wondering how that was going to turn out, I'm glad you got another bike. How's everything else though? Weren't you banged up pretty badly? When the weather turns hit me up & we'll go for a ride.
I always wanted a Harley and last year my eye fell on the Iron 883 (I like the all dark look). Went to the dealer and they told me all Irons were sold out for the year (I'm from Belgium, small country so we only get limited supplies of new models).
I then looked at the Nightster and the dealer told me it was almost as much as a second hand Dyna.
He then offered me a testdrive on a Sportster, which was OK. When I got back he told me to take out this new 2009 Street bob. From there on I was sold on the Street Bob.
The dealer had 2 2006 Street bobs, and after some google searching I found this forum and the stories about the 2006 models. So I passed on those.
It then took me a few months to find myself a late 2007. I bought it near the Belgian coast and drove it home all the way (I live at the other side of the country).
Man, that was the best ride ever. Great way to get to know your new machine....
Got my 09 FXD this past December. Crashed into my IRA account. They said it was the last 09 they had and took $1200.00 off the base price. It wound up costing me $11,489.00 out the door. Its the best deal I could find right then, all the other dealers wouldn't give an inch.
30+ years of Jap sport bikes and off road riding and racing was beginning to wear me out. I sold my Suzuki sport bike and KTM enduro racer last spring and began a search for a more comfortable street ride. Really had my heart set on an FXDX T sport, had 2 deals fall thru, then found an immaculate '07 FXD superglide on e-bay. The bike was only about 150 miles away, so I went to see and test it. Made an offer and it was accepted. A win/win really, great original owner who needed cash and I got a great low mileage '07. My first HD since '79. Brought it home that day in my truck, lovin it ever since.........
Looked at Dyna Fat Bobs, Super Glide Customs and Low Riders on Craigs list, found the low mile Low Rider at a low price. Very cool original owner, smooth deal. I'm happy.
My wife didn't like riding on my old 1200R Sportster because she said it was uncomfortable. She gave me the go ahead to upgrade, I was going to get an 08 Night Train. I was ready to sign the paperwork but the sales guy made the mistake of parking the Night Train right next to the Fat Bob. He said have a seat on the Night Train and I sat on the Fat Bob instead. The rest is history.
I was just joking around with a guy at work by telling him I would trade a 98 volvo with 100K miles on it for his 03 FXDX with barely over 1K. He said ok, so I jumped on it. I purchased the car for 4K and the blue book was about 5K. The trade was done (gave 1K and the car) and that is how I got my Dyna.
Wow, that's a great deal.
I have a 2004 FXDP, which is similar to your 03 FXDX. Found it on craigslist.org in June 2007 to replace my yamaha FJR1300 "sport-touring" bike. I rode it to Sturgis in 2008 and loved every minute. The moment I hopped on it at the farm in Illinois where I bought it, I knew I would be the new owneer. It was perfect.
