stole mine.

yeah i said it, i stole it.

went down to the police auction and saw a vivid black 2008 street bob with 1500 on the odometer that had been laid down on it's right side. bid on it and rolled it into the back of my buddy's pick up for $5800.

put about 1200 into the bike right away. needed a new front fender, new paint on all tins, painted the strut covers and battery band to match, changed out grips and levers, needed mirrors, changed out to forwards, needed new bars, bought a new exhaust because the stock was banged up pretty good.

so, for 7 grand, i have the bike you see in my sig pic.

Been wanting one for some time, and had been looking around at the new bikes. Settled on the Fat Bob, but wanted to wait until I could make a cash purchase.

Had a REALLY bad day at work one day, I worked in a prison as a Network Administrator, and the boss kept leaving me in charge of watching inmates in the shop so I couldn't even do my job. We had some serious network issues, but I had no coverage to allow me to leave the office to fix the problem. When my boss returned from a meeting I basically said f#@k this and told him I was leaving and wouldn't be back for a while. Went down to the dealership that offered me the best price and signed the papers.

Good thing the boss was my friend ... kept the job, got the bike, and was allowed to move back to our Administrative offices where I can actually do my job now.

I got the itch to get a second bike in the middle of 2009. My BMW is a great long distance bike with all the storage and options you could imagine. But I wanted something classic looking and very simple for the quick beach runs that are so popular here in Southern California. I think I looked at every cruiser style bike made. I even looked at the Honda Fury chopper rip off and got pricing on it as well as others.

I had a 2006 Ultra that was nothing but problems which is why I was leaving the HDs on the long list. But I pass a HD dealer on the way to work twice a week. I know they were dealing for the first time in years so I started looking into what caught my eye. After a few more months of searching I locked onto a 2009 Wideglide.

I researched the hell out of it and contacted no less than 5 different dealers working numbers. I was finally ready to pull the trigger and went in to buy my new Wideglide. I sat on it for 10 seconds and new instantly the forward controls would not work with my back problems. I ended up buying the last 2009 Lowrider they had after a test drive. I love the bike. I was pleasantly surprised at how it handles and the power it has after coming off my gutless 06 Ultra.

I now believe I have the perfect stable (for me). The Lowrider has the classic look I wanted and is as simple as they get.

Well, my story starts bad but ends good. Due to some financial issues, about 6 months ago I had to sell my paid for 2006 FLHTC/I and use the money to pay off my truck. Fortunately, with what I had left over and from saving the past 6 months, I was able to pick up my 2005 just yesterday. So I’m back in the saddle and smiling ear-to-ear….

Always knew I wanted a Dyna when I finally got a Harley. It's a personal preference thing, I like the looks of a Dyna over a Softail, and don't want a full dresser. Been a Buell guy for years, was ready to by a new Ulysses XT, but when HD shut Buell down, I had no desire to get one, even at fire-sale prices. Had my eye on a few used Dynas at a couple local dealers, but the average price for 2006+ was 9-11k. Stopped by my dealer on a lunchbreak, and they had dropped a new 09 superglide to 11,300. I signed the papers and went back to work. Picked it up last week and after 100 miles, I'm hooked. What a great ride.

Got a 50,000$ settlement check from my accident with a drunk driver, went to bank they said all funds are available today, went 2 blocks down the road, walked in to the dealership asking what kind of a deal I can get if I payed cash today on this '10 Wideglide, (I was 20 years old ) got it out the door for 14,500 total.

I've been looking on Craig's List for many years at Dynas.
Last December I couldn't believe I found an '01 Vivid Black FXD with 1640 original miles for $8k- Of course when I went to look at it...the guy said he had it runnin' for 45 mins. -but the battery was dead. "we could jump it "if I wanted to hear it...Told him "nah that's cool, I really want to come over and do a cold start." I offer him 7500 without even hearing it- (provided it checks out), he says fine, I tell him I'll buy a new battery for it and come over next week on Tuesday, if that's good with him. He said that would be great. Got a new battery, called him over the weekend and he friggin' says someone called and offered full asking price sight unseen. "Duh...okay " I say. Now I got a new battery for the Sportster...
One week later, he puts it back on Craig's list- "the guy never showed up"- (Love you Craiglisters!!) Anyways, I call him back- Dude what's the deal? He says "Come on over this weekend and we'll hook up the battery and check it out". Great! But then he calls me Thursday, "oh I'm going gambling with my Dad this weekend..." - Uh....ok? Man, he's nice about it but geeezzz..
End up getting over there next week with my two kids in tow, cause thats what I gotta do if I want to start this thing dammit!! First off, the battery is hooked up to the WRONG TERMINALS- (Forgot to mention, first time I saw it I felt the battery, since he said it was dead, it was like 200 degrees!!) Anyone ever see a battery blow up?
He said he had replaced the battery three times since he had it ...Man, I was biting my tongue...it was hard enough looking at all the wrench marks on the frame by the battery... It cranked powerful though, but would not hold an idle; coughin' and chokin'-(of course the carb was gunked and low/idle jet clogged) but at mid to high range it sounded, well you know!! He thought it was something major. Told me it never ran right from the beginning. I told him I'd give him 7k, he said how about 7100? Can you believe it- a hundred bucks!! I said 7 and you don't owe me for the battery- DONE... Went home dropped the kids with the neighbor and went back. Limped it down to the nearest gas station with 15 pounds in both tires, swerving all over the road-dangerous as hell- first two places I went, both tire air compressors were broken- (This felt like a bad omen). "What am I doing" I remember thinking...
Got it home pulled the carb, put in a new $6 low idle jet, sprayed the carb out with carb cleaner: it looked like black-strap molasses falling out!! - Put it all back together andt then, BAAMMM!!!, one big cloud of smoke and it was purrrin' like a kitten...It came with T-Bags(brand new) sissy bar(quick detach) and Windshield(quick detach). Pulled all that stuff off...anyways,that's how I got her!!

Since then I've gotten Reinhardt Cross-Backs, Big Sucker A/C, Jagg Oil cooler, repositioned front turn signals down low, mirrors, grips, Corbin Hollywood Solo seat, other misc. bolt-ons... Man I'm loving this ride!
Still like the 1250 too!!
