I found it on eBay... bought it outright... turned out it was 10 miles from my house so I was able to see it and sit on it first which was important to me since I'm only 5'4" and a bike with forwards was intimidating... fits perfect!
Grew up with Chevy muscle cars and went to the dealer (dads an employee) to talk to my dad about a car one of his neighbors had in a storage building. While there I took the long way out past the rows of shiny bikes and the light bulb went off. Him'd and haw'd for about 2 weeks, talked to the bank, numerous trips up to the dealer to look and drool. One day a Cobalt Blue WG was up there and I knew I wanted that bike. Called the bank again with details, dad called me the next day and said there is a customer on the blue WG with a saleman on his heels. I said I'll call the bank and get the final ok, 3 minutes later I called the old man back and told him to tell the saleman that the WG should be considered "SOLD" and I'd be up there within an hour to sign papers and cut a check.... May 16th 2006. Got the bike, they coudn't find the key and I had to have my dad ride it home cuz I'd never ridden before. Fortunately my dad is a retired police Capt that taught motors for 20 yrs. So he put me through the course on our own time.....I watched him on his Ultra run the course over and over and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I rode my bike from day one without a m/c license to work everyday that summer....ya, I'm a cop too! How do they expect a person to learn to ride?!!! Needless to say, the 65 2dr Biscayne I wanted to buy is nothing but a memory! Been on 2 wheels since then. God I miss Chevy horsepower though!
I had a few jap bikes but couldn't stop going to the HD shop. Finally i just couldn't stand it anymore. An 07 S-Glide Custom was the one I couldn't stop thinking about.
Went in to buy the FXD and it was gone. But there was this purty blue FXDC sitting in it's place. Sales guy said "want to ride it?" (stupid question) fired her up (zero miles) took her out... came back and bought her.
Simple story. I wanted a Harley for 20 years. My uncle took me for several rides on his old iron head sporty when I was a kid . I shopped for a year and a half, sitting in every model produced, got payments, and prices from 4 different dealers. When I read about all the changes to the '06 Dynas, I knew that's what I wanted. The WG fit me very well. Better than any Harley on the show room floors, so that's what I went with. I absolutely it !
I got mine used from a ducati, triumph dealer. My first choice was a wideglide that a local stealer had. We agreed on a price. went back to purchase and the dealership raised the agreed upon price so I left. The bike I have was my second choice. My bike had 1800 in accessories and was over 2 grand less than what the Harley stealers wanted for the 05 FXDC without all the accessories. I got it cause of the deal over what else I could get. A day after I bought my bike, the stealer with the wideglide emailed me and offered the bike at the original agreed price. They were too late.
Well for as long as I can remeber, I always wanted one. In fact I would not even wear anything that said HD on it, cause to me it is an honor to own one, and until I own one.....
Anyways, I had a pic of 2006 Denim Black Street Bob as my background on my computer. My boss at the time who rides, knows I like HD's walked by, stopped and asked me how much I really wanted that bike. This is in July of 2006, I told him bad, but money was an issue. He said go to the bank, get approved for 12,500.00 and that bike will be yours with less than 500 miles. So I did, got approved and met a lady he knew who just bought the bike 3 months earlier, and now she wanted a Honda Valkrie, so I gave her 12,500.00
Bought my 07 Bob off of Ebay from a guy in Colorado for $12,500. I sent my sister a personal check for $12,000 (I had already pay pal him a $500 deposit) and she cashed it and paid the guy and her and her husband picked up the bike for me. Bought a one-way ticket to Denver and flew out there. I just about missed the plane in Tulsa because I almost forgot to claim I had a pistol in my luggage........but that is another story altogether. My sister picked me up at the airport and I stayed with her for a day or two. Rode the bike home.....over 800 miles in 10 hours.
I grew up around bikes, in high school my girlfriends dad had a bike sitting in boxes in the basement of their house. I took the time and reassembled it (1976 CB750) and tuned it up, shortly after I got everything fixed up and working I went to college and broke up with the girl and the bike
Two years after that I bought a Sportster and I've been on a harley since. And been on my Dyna for about a year.
The way I got them was by saving up and getting a loan.
